Code Monkey Friday Begins
“Hey! It compiles! Ship it!”

Today is Code Monkey Friday at StoryChuck
In order to simplify and balance the StoryChuck content I’m designating specific days of the week for certain topics. Friday is when I’m putting on my code monkey hat and talking about software development.
If the thought of programming makes your heart hiccup and your bladder feel full, HAVE NO FEAR. The top of each of these posts will be clearly labeled with the two words, Code Monkey. You’ll be able to quickly skip down the internet trail before any geeky taint lands on you.
code monkey: n
- A person only capable of grinding out code, but unable to perform the higher-primate tasks of software architecture, analysis, and design. Mildly insulting. Often applied to the most junior people on a programming team.
- Anyone who writes code for a living; a programmer.
- A self-deprecating way of denying responsibility for a management decision, or of complaining about having to live with such decisions. As in “Don’t ask me why we need to write a compiler in COBOL, I’m just a code monkey.”

Next week I’ll discuss HTML5 and explain three simple steps that will let you convert most web pages to HTML5. (And, believe it or not, step two and three are optional.)
